Body
WHEREAS, U.S. President Donald J. Trump, Missouri Governor Mike Parson, and County Executive Frank White, Jr., have all declared, in one form or another, the ongoing Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic to be a public health emergency; and,
WHEREAS, the County, through its various efforts, plays a significant role in the public health of its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriate response by the County to this emergency will require significant expenditures from the County CARES Act Fund, which consists of monies provided by the U.S. Treasury for this purpose; and,
WHEREAS, public school districts within Jackson County are in the process of making plans for the reopening of schools for the upcoming fall 2020 semester; and,
WHEREAS, many of the districts have approached the County for assistance with these expenditures out of CARES Act funds; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature does hereby request the County Administration, in cooperation with the Health Department, to develop and present to the Legislature for approval and funding a plan to assist public school districts within Jackson County in the reopening of schools for the upcoming fall 2020 semester.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
