RESOLUTION NO. 20355, January 21, 2020

INTRODUCED BY Charlie Franklin, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 5234, dated June 3, 2019, the Family Court Division accepted funds for its Jackson County Disproportionate Minority Contract (DMC) Coordinator project, awarded by the Missouri Department of Public Safety; and,

WHEREAS, the goal of this program is to provide a DMC Coordinator who will oversee the Jackson County DMC initiative to examine potential disproportionate minority disparities in the justice continuum and implement data-based prevention and system improvement strategies to reduce identified disparities in treatment of system-involved youth; and,

WHEREAS, the Family Court Division now recommends an extension to this grant; and,

WHEREAS, this extension will provide for continued funding for the DMC Coordinator position through the new expiration date of September 30, 2020, at no cost to the County; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the grant period for the Missouri Department of Public Safety's grant for the DMC Coordinator project be extended through September 30, 2020, as recommended by the Family Court Division.

Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
