Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 5201, dated February 25, 2019, the Legislature did authorize the acceptance of a supplemental grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, Land and Water Conservation Fund, which required a local match of $50,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, subsequent to signing the grant agreement, and in accordance with the grant's requirements, a cultural resource study was conducted on the site as directed by the Missouri State Historical Preservation Office (SHPO); and,

WHEREAS, the study found that the site contained significant amounts of cultural material, such that it is eligible to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places; and,

WHEREAS, SHPO then required further in-depth testing before any ground disturbing activity could be approved; and,


WHEREAS, due to the open-ended nature of the potential additional costs based on the high probability of new cultural resources being found, the Parks + Rec Department's project budget has been compromised, making the project no longer feasible as proposed in the supplemental grant application; and,

WHEREAS, the Parks + Rec Department has requested and received authorization from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Division of State Parks, Land and Water Conservation Fund to cancel the grant; and,
