A RESOLUTION transferring $40,000.00 within the 2019 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund for the purpose of funding the Family Court’s Night Light Program.

RESOLUTION NO. 20185, June 17, 2019

 

INTRODUCED BY Dan Tarwater III, County Legislator

 

 

Body

 WHEREAS, chapter 93 of the County Code authorizes the County to award contracts for services for the purpose of providing substance abuse treatment, prevention, and other anti-drug and anti-violence initiatives in the community; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Jackson County Family Court Night Light Program is designed to address serious and potentially violent juvenile offenders who are either under pre-adjudication supervision, on probation, or re-entering the community from residential placement; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Family Court’s Night Light Program’s goals are to hold youth accountable for their actions, reduce delinquent behavior, encourage sound social decision-making behavior, and reduce illegal substance abuse; and,

 

WHEREAS, COMBAT funding of this program provides critical afterhours monitoring conducted by the juvenile probation officer and a member of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office that supports the prevention programming offered by the Family Court; and,

 

 

 

WHEREAS, the Jackson County Family Court Night Light program has been shown to be effective in reducing recidivism; and,

 

WHEREAS, a transfer within the Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund is necessary to place the required funds in the proper spending account; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer be made within the 2019 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund:
