Title: Pursuant to section 706.1, Jackson County Code, 1984, I hereby promulgate the attached amendment to section 9.1 of the Personnel Rules for Jackson County Employees. The amendment shall be effective immediately and shall expire on December 31, 2018. Upon expiration, section 9.1 of the Personnel Rules for Jackson County Employees shall revert to its form prior to this Executive Order. Pursuant to Section 9.1 of the Personnel Rules for Jackson County Employees, as amended, county offices will be closed on Monday, December 24, 2018.

RE:                     AMENDMENT TO PERSONNEL RULES- CLOSURE OF COUNTY OFFICES ON DECEMBER 24, 2018

 

Title

Pursuant to section 706.1, Jackson County Code, 1984, I hereby promulgate the attached amendment to section 9.1 of the Personnel Rules for Jackson County Employees.  The amendment shall be effective immediately and shall expire on December 31, 2018.  Upon expiration, section 9.1 of the Personnel Rules for Jackson County Employees shall revert to its form prior to this Executive Order. 

Pursuant to Section 9.1 of the Personnel Rules for Jackson County Employees, as amended, county offices will be closed on Monday, December 24, 2018.

RULE 9 - HOLIDAYS AND OTHER LEAVE

Section 9.1 -   Holidays

 

All employees shall receive paid holidays on those days established as official County holidays.

When the county holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be considered the

holiday.  When the holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be considered the

holiday. The following [eleven (11)] twelve (12) days are hereby established as the official County holidays for each year:

 

New Year's Day - the first day of January

Martin Luther King Day - the third Monday of January

President's Day - the third Monday of February [OR] AND the day before [/after] Christmas [to be

determined by the County Executive annually (not both) and coordinated with

Memorandums of Understanding with Bargaining Units]

 

Truman Day - the eighth day of May

 

Memorial Day - the last Monday in May

 

Independence Day - the fourth day of July

 

Labor Day - the first Monday in September

 

Veteran's Day - the eleventh day of November

 

Thanksgiving Day - the fourth Thursday in November

The Friday following Thanksgiving

Christmas Day - the twenty-fifth day of December

All County departments and offices shall remain open and normally staffed for business on all

election days, except as otherwise required by law.
