A RESOLUTION awarding a contract for the furnishing of tactical rifles for use by the Sheriff's Office to Gulf States Distributors, Inc., of Montgomery, AL, under the terms and conditions of Invitation to Bid No. 32-18, declaring certain existing rifles as surplus personal property, and authorizing their disposal by way of trade-in, at a net actual cost to the County in the amount of $5,746.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office requires new tactical rifles to replace worn-out and outdated rifles and requests the surplussing and trade-in of existing weapons that show excessive duty-related wear; and,
WHEREAS, a total of thirty-two notifications were distributed and six bids were received and evaluated; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 1054.6 of the Jackson County Code, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the award of a contract for the furnishing of tactical rifles for use by the Sheriff's Office to Gulf States Distributors of Montgomery, AL, as the best bid received; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 1142 of the Jackson County Code, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends that the listed obsolete weapons to be declared surplus and used as trade-ins for the purchase of new weapons; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Director of Finance and Purchasing, and that the Director be and hereby is authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the award; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the existing rifles listed on the attached documentation be and hereby are declared surplus personal property and that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to dispose of said personal property by way of trade-in, as recommended; and
