Title
A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute certain documents requesting the City of Kansas City, MO, to vacate an existing street and subdivision plat on property within and adjacent to the Harry S. Truman Sports Complex.

Intro
RESOLUTION NO. 19808, April 2, 2018
INTRODUCED BY Tony Miller, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, the five-hundred-acre Harry S. Truman Sports Complex is owned by the County and is leased to the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority; and,

WHEREAS, portions of the sports complex are subjet to subleases with the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs; and,

WHEREAS, a recent survey disclosed that a portion of Leeds Road, a city street in Kansas City, Missouri, was platted but never built; and,

WHEREAS, the location of the road and an old platted subdivision within the sports complex and on adjacent right-of-way owned by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission renders them obsolete; and,

WHEREAS, the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority has requested the City to vacate this street and subdivision plat; and,

WHEREAS, the existence of this street, on paper only, may cause problems in the event the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority wishes to build over the road or in the right-of- way, which would require obtaining an easement from the City; and,

WHEREAS, the City's ordinances require that the owner of the property, here the County, be the applicant for such action to vacate; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute any and all documents necessary in order to request the City of Kansas City, MO, to vacate the existing sheet and subdivision plat described herein.
