Body
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has solicited formal written bids on Bid No. PW 01-2018 for the 2018 Pavement Maintenance Project, No. 3223, for use by the Public Works Department; and,

WHEREAS, notifications were distributed through advertisement and online posting and three responses were received from the following:

Ideker, Inc. $ 1,383,404.25
St. Joseph, MO

Metro Asphalt, Inc. $ 1,392,226.67

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works recommends the award of a contract for the 2018 Pavement Maintenance Project, No. 3223, to Superior Bowen Asphalt, Co., LLC, for the reason that it submitted the lowest and best bid; and,

WHEREAS, after the bids were opened, the Director of Public Works recommended an decrease to include the alternate bid item for recycled asphaltic concrete surface for the roadways; and,

WHEREAS, alternate work for the recycled asphaltic roadways decreased Superior Bowen's original bid by $67,264.75, to a total revised amount of $1,124,546.67; and,

WHEREAS, in the event that line item adjustments to the contract become necessary, it is appropriate that the Director of Public Works be authorized to approve said line item adjustments to the extent there is no additional cost to the County; now therefore,
