WHEREAS, by Resolution 19447, dated April 3, 2017, the Legislature did authorize an actuarial study to determine the cost of an increase to the pension benefits of certain associates within the Sheriff's Office, to be performed by Cheiron of McLean, VA, the actuarial firm under contract with the Jackson County Employees' Pension Plan Board of Trustees, at a cost to the County not to exceed $5,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, by Resolution 19658, dated November 27, 2017, the Legislature did authorize an increase to the contract for this study to perform additional calculations, at an additional cost of $8,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of Human Resources recommends that the time for completion of the work contracted for in the addendum authorized by Resolution 19658 be extended until March 31, 2018; and,
WHEREAS, this extension is necessary as the County has not yet determined the actuarial assumptions upon which Cheiron is required to base its calculations;
WHEREAS, those actuarial assumptions will be determined with the adoption of Ordinance 5066, now pending before the Legislature; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute an addendum to the Agreement with Cheiron of McLean, VA, extending the time for completion of its work under the Agreement until March 31, 2018, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor.
