A RESOLUTION recognizing Deputy Gabriel Woods for his service to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

RESOLUTION NO. 19487, May 15, 2017

 

INTRODUCED BY Crystal Williams, Scott Burnett, Alfred Jordan, Garry J. Baker, Tony Miller, Dennis Waits, Dan Tarwater III, Greg Grounds, and Theresa Galvin, County Legislators

 

 

Body

 WHEREAS, Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Gabriel Woods was injured in the line of duty when his patrol vehicle was rear-ended in an accident in March 2015; and,

 

WHEREAS, Deputy Woods joined the Sheriff’s Office on June 13, 2011, providing six years of dedicated service to the citizens of Jackson County; and,

 

WHEREAS, Deputy Woods is a respected officer within the department, using his creativity and problem-solving skills to apprehend suspects; and, 

 

WHEREAS, Deputy Woods is fondly referred to as “Hound Dog” for tracking scrap copper thieves through snow and for astutely recognizing a stolen truck traveling on Interstate 70; and,

 

WHEREAS, Deputy Woods has served the Sheriff’s Office with honor and distinction, and he has been a great asset to the department, once saving a fellow deputy from falling through a ceiling while searching for an armed suspect; and,

 

WHEREAS, Deputy Woods will medically retire from service on May 16, 2017; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby commends Deputy Gabriel Woods for his dedication, sacrifice, and distinguished career with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and extends its best wishes for all of his future endeavors.

                                          

 

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
