Body
WHEREAS, Ellen Yankiver Suni, Dean and Professor of Law at the University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) School of Law, is leaving her position as dean May 2, 2017, to return to a faculty position; and,

WHEREAS, Dean Suni holds a juris doctor degree from Boston University and a bachelor of arts degree from City College of New York; and,

WHEREAS, Dean Suni has served on the faculty of UMKC for over 36 years and her thirteen year tenure as Dean of the School of Law makes her one of the longest serving deans in the country; and,

WHEREAS, Dean Suni is a prominent expert on the topic of professional responsibility in the legal profession and is the author of numerous scholarly articles and programs on the issue; and,

WHEREAS, Dean Suni is an active participant in statewide and local organizations and is known for speaking on issues that help practicing lawyers understand and use the law more effectively; and,

WHEREAS, Dean Suni is the recipient of many awards and recognitions, including her selection as a member of the inaugural class of Legal Leaders of Kansas City, the Missouri Lawyer's Media Women's Justice Award, the Outstanding Lawyer of the Year Award by the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City, and the Spurgeon Smithson Award from the Missouri Bar Foundation; and,

WHEREAS, Dean Suni is a member of the Missouri Supreme Court Committee on the Future of the Legal Profession and co-chaired a conference related to Law Schools, Technology, and Access to Justice;...
