Body
WHEREAS, Joshua Scott Rieck of Independence, Missouri, has successfully completed all requirements to attain Scouting’s highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout; and,
WHEREAS, only approximately five percent of all Boy Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout; and,
WHEREAS, earning the rank of Eagle Scout is an important milestone which carries special significance not only in Scouting, but also throughout a young man’s pursuit of higher education, business ventures, and community service; and,
WHEREAS, Joshua, a member of Boy Scout Troop 492, will be recognized for his achievement at the Eagle Court of Honor to be held April 18, 2017; and,
WHEREAS, Joshua has been a Scout for four years and has served as Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Quartermaster; and,
WHEREAS, Joshua has attended four years of summer camp at the H. Roe Bartle Boy Scout Reservation where he has attained the rank of Brave Shadow of Little Silent Silver Otter in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say; and,
WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout project, Joshua planned and supervised new landscaping and plants for the Officer Memorial at the new Sheriff’s Headquarters; and,
WHEREAS, Joshua is a freshman at Fort Osage High School; and,
WHEREAS, Joshua's proud parents, Bryan and Buffy Rieck, join in his celebration of this honor; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Joshua Scott Rieck, upon successfully completing all requirements to attain Scouting’s highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout, and extends well-deserved recognition for his contributions to the Jackson County community.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
