Body
WHEREAS, Terry William “Willie” Trafton, III, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, has successfully completed all requirements to attain Scouting’s highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout; and,
WHEREAS, only approximately five percent of all Boy Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout; and,
WHEREAS, earning the rank of Eagle Scout is an important milestone which carries special significance not only in Scouting, but also throughout a young man’s pursuit of higher education, business ventures, or community service; and,
WHEREAS, Willie, a member of Scout Troop 323, Heart of America Council, Thunderbird District, was presented with his Eagle Scout badge at the Eagle Court of Honor held November 13, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lee’s Summit; and,
WHEREAS, Willie has been a Scout for nine years and has served as Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader; and,
WHEREAS, Willie received the Arrow of Light Award in 2012 and has attended three years of summer camp at the H. Roe Bartle Boy Scout Reservation; and,
WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout Project, Willie coordinated the cleaning, repair, reconstruction, and staining of four picnic tables and seven benches for the Hope House domestic violence shelter in Lee’s Summit; and,
WHEREAS, Willie is a sophomore at Lee’s Summit West High School where he enjoys playing football and baseball; and,
WHEREAS, Willie's proud parents, Terry and Robin Trafton, join in his celebration of this honor; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Terry William “Willie” Trafton, III, upon successfully completing all requirements to attain Scouting’s highest honor, the rank of Eagle Scout, and extends well-deserved recognition for his contributions to the Jackson County community.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
