Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 19130, dated April 25, 2016, the Legislature did award a contract for a new Parks + Rec maintenance facility located northwest of the new park ranger offices at 3310 NE Rennau Drive; and,
WHEREAS, this new facility will require the installation of natural gas pipelines and meters by Laclede Gas Company d/b/a Missouri Gas Energy (MGE); and,
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the execution of a contract with Laclede Gas Company d/b/a Missouri Gas Energy for the installation of natural gas pipelines and meters, at a cost to the County in the amount of $36,006.00, as a sole source purchase; and,
WHEREAS, section 1030.1, Jackson County Code, 1984, eliminates the requirement for competitive bidding when items to be purchased can be obtained from only one source; and,
WHEREAS, the Director recommends that he not take competitive bids for this installation for the reason that MGE is the only natural gas service provider authorized to serve the location concerned; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Director of Finance and Purchasing, and that the Director be and hereby is authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary for the accomplishment of the award; and,
