AN ORDINANCE appropriating $9,624.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2016 Special Road and Bridge Fund and authorizing the County Executive to execute an agreement in acceptance of funding provided by the United States Marshals Service for use by the Sheriff’s Office for “Operation Safe Spring.”

Body
WHEREAS, on May 23, 2016, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and other area law enforcement agencies conducted a short-term joint sex offender compliance operation titled “Operation Safe Spring”; and,
WHEREAS, this operation ensured that offenders are complying with county, state, and federal statutes; and,
WHEREAS, the U.S. Marshals Service has reimbursed the County $9,623.31 for this operation; and,
WHEREAS, the Sheriff recommends the execution of the attached Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the U.S. Marshals Service for this joint operation; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the funds received from the U.S. Marshals Service in the proper spending account; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation from the undesignated fund balance of the 2016 Special Road and Bridge Fund be and hereby is made:
