Body
WHEREAS, recent events have caused the Legislature to believe that the County should retain an expert consultant to review the procedures, operations, and facilities of the Department of Corrections and report on the same to the Legislature, with recommendations for any needed improvements; and,
WHEREAS, the Legislature believes that a broad solicitation of interested parties, conducted by the Director of Finance and Purchasing, is the best way to find the most qualified person or firm to conduct the needed review; and,
WHEREAS, the Legislature designates the Legislative Auditor as the official who should coordinate with the Director to ensure the solicitation covers all required points; and,
WHEREAS, the issuance of the solicitation described in this Resolution is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislative Auditor be and hereby is directed to coordinate with the Director of Finance and Purchasing in the issuance of a Request for Statements of Qualifications and Interest for a consultant to review the procedures, operations, and facilities of the Department of Corrections.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
