WHEREAS, St. Teresa's Academy, a Catholic, independent, college preparatory high school founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1866, is committed to providing young women with an education rooted in Christian values and academic rigor; and,
WHEREAS, St. Teresa's Academy promotes mutual respect, integrity, compassion, and justice through prayer, liturgy, and service to others; and,
WHEREAS, in its 150th year, St. Teresa's Academy is marking the occasion by celebrating 2016 as The Year of the Young Woman; and,
WHEREAS, at St. Teresa's Academy, each student is exposed to educational activities and assessments designed to meet the diverse needs of individual learners, using a variety of thinking and reasoning strategies to gain knowledge in a meaningful way; and,
WHEREAS, St. Teresa's Academy is an anchor in its community, welcomes its neighbors to share in its rich history and the natural beauty of its campus, known as Windmoor; and,
WHEREAS, the education provided at St. Teresa's Academy is focused on meeting the needs of the whole young woman to develop future leaders who must not only be motivated, intelligent, and committed to their communities, but also be mindful, compassionate, and caring; and,
WHEREAS, St. Teresa's Academy will continue to assist each student to discover her inner strength as she strikes her own unique path in life; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates St. Teresa's Academy on the occasion of its 150th Anniversary and extends best wi...
