Body
WHEREAS, Susie Edwards, District Administrator with Missouri State Probation and Parole, is retiring after twenty-nine years of service to the Missouri Department of Corrections; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Edwards has had a distinguished career in working with offenders and parolees, predominately within Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Edwards has been active in organizing and supervising programs aimed at finding employment, training, or treatment for ex-offenders; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Edwards has managed restorative justice programs, working with wardens throughout Missouri in joint efforts aimed at reducing the recidivism of persons involved with crimes; and,
WHEREAS, these programs include developing and overseeing offender workforce programs and maintaining an effective liaison within communities, neighborhoods, and police departments throughout Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, Susie holds a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice from Missouri Southern State University and has advanced competencies and training in the Offender Workforce Development Specialist program; and,
WHEREAS, Susie's co-workers, family, and friends extend their best wishes for her new career working with ex-offenders within the federal prison system; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Susie Edwards for her service with Missouri Probation and Parole and extends best wishes for her future endeavors.
