Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 4834, dated March 28, 2016, the Legislature did authorize an appropriation in the amount of $60,000.00 for funds received from the City of Kansas City, Missouri, for the Prosecuting Attorney's Office's Youth Violence Reduction program former known as the Teens in Transition program; and,

WHEREAS, the Youth Violence Reduction program is part of the No Violence Alliance (NoVA) Project, a collaborative initiative between key law enforcement leaders in Kansas City, the regional administrator of probation and parole, and the U.S. Attorney's Office, to reduce violent crime in Kansas City's urban core through a mix of law enforcement and social service components; and,

WHEREAS, juveniles in the Youth Violence Reduction program will participate in a ten-week summer program for approximately ten to fifteen hours per week, to provide a safe, stable, and healthy environment where the juveniles will gain the appropriate life skills training to reduce the risk of committing a violent act; and,

WHEREAS, the County is serving as the fiscal agent for this project which will run during the period of May 31, 2016, through August 7, 2016; and,

WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney recommends a Cooperative Agreement with Arts Tech of Kansas City (Jackson County), Missouri to provide support services and meeting space for the Youth Violence Reduction program, at a cost to the County of $21,500.00; now therefore,
