Body
WHEREAS, Macedonia Baptist Church of Kansas City, Missouri, is celebrating its 100th Anniversary, Saturday, May 14, 2016; and,
WHEREAS, Macedonia Baptist Church holds as its mission to lead men, women, boys, and girls to Jesus Christ; and,
WHEREAS, in its early years, Macedonia Baptist Church flourished under the leadership of Pastor Jackson Smith, Pastor L.C. Rice, and Pastor Preston Allen, Sr., through whose leadership the Church purchased a church facility; and,
WHEREAS, the growing congregation has expanded and improved its facilities under the leadership of Pastor Allen, Sr., for 49 years, and upon his retirement, Pastor Preston Allen, Jr., was appointed; and,
WHEREAS, through Pastor Allen, Jr.'s leadership, Macedonia Baptist Church was placed on the City of Kansas City records as a Historic Landmark, former President Harry S Truman having been baptized in the church when it was known as Benton Boulevard Baptist Church; and,
WHEREAS, presently, Macedonia Baptist Church is led by Pastor John Leslie Brooks at its current and fourth location, 1700 E. Linwood Boulevard; and,
WHEREAS, Macedonia Baptist Church serves through a holistic ministry that will reach the lost and minister to the local and international community; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Macedonia Baptist Church, on the occasion of its 100th anniversary and extends sincere best wishes for continued success in the future.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
