Body
WHEREAS, History Rain Estill-Varner, a 2015 summa cum laude graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to conduct research in the Dominican Republic from January to November 2016; and,

WHEREAS, History will collaborate with that country's National Association of the Deaf and the National Interpreting Association to build a sustainable Interpreter Training Program to ensure that interpreters of Dominican Sign Language are consistent and proficient; and,

WHEREAS, History is the recipient of two Bachelor of Science degrees from the Rochester Institute of Technology/National Technical Institute for the Deaf, one in American Sign Language Interpreting and the other in International and Global Studies; and,

WHEREAS, she is fluent in both American Sign Language and Spanish; and,

WHEREAS, History attended a study-abroad program at the Universidad Veritas in Costa Rica and held an internship with the Ministry of Education in the Dominican Republic; and,

WHEREAS, History maintained academic honors throughout her university studies, all while working three jobs and being involved with her sorority and other club and volunteer activities; and,

WHEREAS, History's mother, Jackson County's own Winifred Jamieson, gave birth to History on her eighteenth birthday and appreciates her daughter's support and help in raising her two brothers through difficult times for the family; and,
