A RESOLUTION congratulating Tom Wyrsch upon being named the 2015 recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award for Service from the University of Central Missouri.

Body

 WHEREAS, Tom Wyrsch, Chief Compliance Review Officer for Jackson County, was honored October 23, 2015, by the University of Central Missouri as the recipient of the University’s Distinguished Alumni Award for Service; and,

 

WHEREAS, in 1978, Tom received a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from UCM, where he was a member of the Student Government Association and the Delta Upsilon fraternity; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tom has been a tireless supporter of the University, serving as a President and member of the UCM Alumni Board of Directors; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tom has carried his love of politics and government through four decades of service, assisting with local, state, and national campaigns and presently serving as Chairman of the Jackson County Democratic Committee; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tom is an avid fan of the Kansas City Royals and has served as a volunteer on numerous community events, including as a grand marshal of the Kansas City St. Patrick’s Day Parade and volunteer at the Kansas City Irish Fest where he has been honored with the “Tommy Gate”; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tom has served as a judge of the Great Lenexa BBQ Contest, logistics chair for the American Royal Parade, and a volunteer with the Kansas City Zoo’s Jazzoo Festival; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tom’s co-workers frequently see him displaying his UCM gear and touting the University’s many sports successes; and,

 

WHEREAS, following in her father’s footsteps, Tom’s daughter Callie graduated from UCM in May 2015; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tom’s co-workers join in congratulating him for this honor and recognition; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature congratulates Tom Wyrsch on the occasion of being named the University of Central Missouri Distinguished Alumni Award for Service recipient.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
