Body
WHEREAS, the National Council of La Raza was founded in February 1968, under the name Southwest Council of La Raza (SWCLR) by Herman Gallegos, Dr. Julian Samora, and Dr. Ernesto Galarza; and,

WHEREAS, at the end of 1972, SWCLR became a national organization, and the Board changed its name to the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) to reflect its commitment to represent and serve all Mexican Americans in all parts of the country; and,

WHEREAS, currently NCLR impacts more than 3,000,000 people in 41 states each year through its network of nearly 300 affiliated community-based organizations; and,

WHEREAS, NCLR is recognized for its dedication to increasing educational opportunities, improving achievement, and promoting equity in outcomes for Latinos throughout the education pipeline, from early childhood through K - 12 education; and,

WHEREAS, Kansas City is home of the 2015 NCLR Annual Conference, which will be held July 11 - 14, 2015, at the Kansas City Convention Center and will also host the NCLR National Latino Family Expo on July 11 - 13, 2015; and,

WHEREAS, NCLR National Latino Family Expo is one of the largest events in the country focused on resources and activities for the Latino family, with more than 200 exhibitors showcasing their products and services; and,

WHEREAS, the National Latino Family Expo is a free event open to all citizens, and will include live entertainment, giveaways, and free health screenings; and,
