A RESOLUTION transferring $10,000.00 within the 2015 Health Fund and authorizing the Director of Finance and Purchasing to issue a check in the amount of $10,000.00 to the National Council of La Raza, for sponsorship of a Health Fair as part of the 2015 National Council of La Raza Annual Conference to be held at the Kansas City Convention Center July 11 -14, 2015.

Body
WHEREAS, the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) will be holding its 2015 Annual Conference and National Latino Family Expo at the Kansas City Convention Center July 11 -14, 2015; and,
WHEREAS, NCLR is the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States; and,
WHEREAS, the Latino Family Expo will include a Health Fair which will provide free health, eye, and dental screenings to thousands of Jackson County residents; and,
WHEREAS, NCLR has submitted a request to the County for sponsorship of the Health Fair in the amount of $10,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, in exchange for said sponsorship, the County will receive advertising in NCLR’s promotional materials; and,
WHEREAS, sponsorship of a Health Fair for area residents is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, a transfer is necessary to cover the cost of this sponsorship; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends this transfer; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer be made within the 2015 Health Fund:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to issue a check to NCLR, in the amount of $10,000.00 for sponsorship of its Health Fair at the 2015 Annual Conference and National Latino Family Expo.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
