Body
WHEREAS, the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is the largest national Hispanic advocacy organization in the United States; and,
WHEREAS, Kansas City is hosting the NCLR annual conference to be held July 11 - 14, 2015, at the Kansas City Convention Center, and has submitted a request to the COMBAT Administration for sponsorship, in the amount of $1,500.00; and,
WHEREAS, this sponsorship will allow Jackson County the opportunity to promote its Don't Look the Other Way anti-violent crime campaign; and,
WHEREAS, in exchange for its sponsorship, COMBAT will receive an exhibition booth at La Raza's Latino Family Expo that is part of the annual conference; and,
WHEREAS, said sponsorship is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized issue a check to the National Council of La Raza, in the amount of $1,500.00 for sponsorship of its annual conference and to execute any documents necessary to give effect to this resolution.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
