Body
WHEREAS, Alex M. Petrovic, former Missouri State Representative, Eastern District Judge of the Jackson County Court, and community leader, passed away June 1, 2015; and,

WHEREAS, from 1962 to 1966, Alex served in the Missouri General Assembly where he established the Missouri State Archive system; and,

WHEREAS, in 2005, Alex was honored for his work to preserve Missouri records with the dedication of the Alex M. Petrovic Reading Room in Jefferson City, Missouri; and,

WHEREAS, Alex had a long history of community leadership including serving Jackson County as Eastern District Judge from 1966 to 1970, the position once held by President Harry S Truman; and,

WHEREAS, Alex was the community relations and marketing director for St. Joseph Health Center where he successfully marketed the Spirit of St. Joseph Life Flight program; and,

WHEREAS, Alex was an alumnus of William Chrisman High School and Rockhurst College and served in the United State Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945; and,

WHEREAS, Alex was instrumental in bringing the professional sports stadiums to Jackson County and responsible for naming the sports complex after Harry S Truman; and,

WHEREAS, Alex served in leadership roles with the Independence Rotary Club, Sertoma Club, the National Conference of Christians and Jews, Catholic Charities, South Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Marillac Center, the Sugar Creek School Board, and the Kansas City Library Board; and,

WHEREAS, Alex had a keen sense of humor, was a devout Catholic, and will missed by his family and friends; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature recognizes the life and extraordinary achievements of the Alex...
