Body
WHEREAS, the Kansas City area's winningest team, the Missouri Comets Indoor Soccer team, ended the inaugural regular season of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) with a perfect 20 - 0 record, after defeating the Tacoma Stars in a 17 - 1 victory February 22, 2015, at the Independence Events Center; and,

WHEREAS, the Comets will now host the winner of Milwaukee and Chicago in the Divisional Final at the Independence Event Center, March 12, 2015, at 7 pm; and,

WHEREAS, Comets' forward Leo Gibson was named Borden Man of the Match after his twelve-point performance, with eight goals and four assists; and,

WHEREAS, in addition, goalkeeper Danny Waltman broke the record for most wins in a season with seventeen victories; and,

WHEREAS, the Comets have attained great success since the team joined the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) as an expansion team for the 2010-2011 season; and,

WHEREAS, the Comets advanced to the semifinals its first season, to the division finals its second season, the finals in its third season, and won the Championship game during the 2013-2014 season, its final season as part of the MISL; and,

WHEREAS, the team is named after the original Kansas City Comets that played in the MISL from 1981-1991; and,

WHEREAS, the Missouri Comets are led by Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski, who is also the coach of the local women's professional soccer team, FC Kansas City; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates the Missouri Comets Indoor Soccer team on the occasion of its undefeated regular season and extends best wishes in ...
