WHEREAS, Peter Michael Gromowsky, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney assigned to the Jackson County Drug Court program, passed away January 9, 2015, of complications from the flu; and,
WHEREAS, after Peter earned his juris doctor degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City, he began his career as a law clerk under Judge John O'Malley before joining the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office eighteen years ago; and,
WHEREAS, as the prosecutor assigned to the Drug Court program, Peter was known for his ability to connect with the participants and work with passion and creativity for their success in the program; and,
WHEREAS, in 2011 Peter helped establish the Veterans Court program to assist vets with treatment and Veteran's Administration resources while their cases are pending; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to his commitment to serving the community as a prosecutor, Peter was a long-time resident of the Kansas City area, having attended Christ the King and St. Thomas More elementary schools and Rockhurst High School; and,
WHEREAS, Peter's daughter, Olivia, remembers her father for his love of animals, ability to always find the humor in any situation, and for always being there to offer support and encouragement; and,
WHEREAS, Peter's family will miss their loving son, brother, grandson, husband, and father; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to his daughter Olivia, Peter is survived by his wife Betsy, his parents, Sam and Mary Gromowsky, and his brothers, Steven, his wife Aimee, and their three children, John, his wife Stacy, and their three children, and Sam III; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature recognizes the life and extraordinary personal and professional achievements of Peter Gromowsky, and extends its deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and colleagues.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
