Body
WHEREAS, Dr. Kathryn Lee Ridley will celebrate her 60th birthday on July 13, 2014; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Ridley is known to her family and friends as a kind and generous person who has earned the respect and admiration of those who know and love her; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Ridley is committed to making the world a better place by performing "Random Acts of Kindness" to her neighbors who might need help; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Ridley has distributed gloves and hats to the needy, backpacks filled with toiletries and snacks for the homeless, and school supplies and uniforms to children; and,
WHEREAS, in an effort to curb violence in the community, Dr. Ridley organized the Kid's Against Crime Rally and has been actively involved in area organizations including Mothers of Incarcerated Sons and Daughters and Friends of Yates; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Ridley is a lifetime educator who has worked to improve the lives of the children she has taught, living by the philosophy that children are our future and we must teach them well; and,
WHEREAS, Dr. Ridley is a faithful member of the Friendship Baptist Church, giving generously of her time toward the spiritual development and growth of the church; and,
WHEREAS, despite Dr. Ridley's recent health concerns, she keeps her spirits high, and consistently thinks of others first with a kind and encouraging smile; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Dr. Kathryn Lee Ridley on her 60th birthday celebration and extends best wishes to her on this momentous occasion.
