Body
WHEREAS, in 2013 Missouri was named the "Best Trails State" by American Trails, a national non-profit organization for trail interests; and,
WHEREAS, to capitalize on this honor the Missouri Department of Natural Resources - Division of State Parks, Great Rivers Greenway District, and the Ozark Trails Association have provided information for the development of a website, VisitMissouriTrails.com; and,
WHEREAS, other parks and recreation entities throughout the state have partnered to contribute to the VisitMissouriTrials.com project, including the City of Kansas City Parks and Recreation, Missouri Parks and Recreation, and others; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of Parks + Rec recommends a contribution to this project in the amount of $1,480.00; and,
WHEREAS, in return for its contribution, the Parks + Rec Department will have trail resources, interactive maps, and park photos featured on the site; and,
WHEREAS, participation in the VisitMissouriTrails.com project is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County; and,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to issue a check to the Missouri Parks & Recreation Association in the amount of $1,480.00.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
