RESOLUTION NO. 18257, September 9, 2013

Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 4257, dated October 12, 2010, the Legislature did authorize the acceptance of a grant from the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission in the amount of $25,000.00 for the Safe Routes to School Enforcement Program - Hickman Mills, for the period of August 18, 2010, through June 6, 2012; and,

WHEREAS, this grant is used to provide funding for the Sheriff=s Office to conduct neighborhood assessments, increased moving and non-moving violation enforcement, and education programs for students, neighbors, and parents regarding traffic safety for automobiles, cyclists, and pedestrians within a two-mile radius of Dobbs, Ingles, and Johnson Elementary Schools in Kansas City, MO; and,

WHEREAS, there is a remaining balance on the grant in the amount of $15,436.94; and,

WHEREAS, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has authorized the extension of this grant through June 6, 2014, to utilize the balance of the grant funds; and,

WHEREAS, the extension of the Safe Routes to School Enforcement Program - Hickman Mills grant is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Supplemental Program Agreement with the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission for the extension of the Safe Routes to School Enforcement Program - Hickman Mills grant.
