Body
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce has received an Award of Excellence presented by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives, a national association of professionals who manage chambers of commerce; and,
WHEREAS, this award was granted for the Lee's Summit Chamber's 2012 "Shop Lee's Summit" marketing campaign; and,
WHEREAS, the American Chamber of Commerce Executives was established in 1914 and is the only national association uniquely serving the professional development needs of individuals who manage chambers of commerce throughout the United States and several other countries; and,
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit Chamber of Commerce was incorporated in 1969 and is a member-supported organization of businesses dedicated to creating opportunities for business success through networking, advocacy, and business and professional development; and,
WHEREAS, the "Shop Lee's Summit" campaign was an effort led by the Chamber's Visitors Council to reach residents and educate them on the importance of shopping locally; and,
WHEREAS, the "Shop Lee's Summit" campaign was made possible through a grant received from the City of Lee's Summit, which funded a multi-faceted marketing campaign including a new logo, press releases, posters, fliers, and ads; and,
WHEREAS, there were 142 entries submitted from all over the United States in the Award for Excellence competition, with winners selected by a three-judge panel of chamber executives; now therefore,
