AN ORDINANCE appropriating $1,000.00 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2013 General Fund to be used to cover the cost of expenses related to a National Adoption Day event to be held by the Family Court Division.

Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Family Court Division collects fees for adoption cases filed within the County; and,
WHEREAS, the Family Court requests the appropriation of $1,000.00 of the adoption fees received in 2012 to be used for an event to celebrate National Adoption Day, to be held November 23, 2013; and,
WHEREAS, National Adoption Day is an annual event held at locations throughout the United States to raise awareness of the more than 100,000 children in foster care waiting to find permanent families; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary in order to place the funds in the proper spending account; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends said appropriation; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation from the 2013 General Fund be and is hereby made:
