Body
WHEREAS, the Legislature has previous authorized the renovation of the Historic Truman Courthouse, located on the courthouse square in Independence, MO, to better utilize the vacant office space available there, due to the need for additional space for the Circuit Court at the Courthouse Annex in Independence; and,

WHEREAS, the renovation of the Historic Truman Courthouse is in its final stages, and it is now necessary to begin renovation of the Courthouse Annex; and,

WHEREAS, the Annex was built in 1948 and the westwing was added in 1972 to serve the County judicial system and other County services; and,

WHEREAS, renovation of the Annex will enable the facility to be used for judicial functions and the Legislative Chamber, while other County offices to be relocated to the Historic Truman Courthouse; and,

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works solicited proposals for the necessary architectural design and construction services and received fifteen submissions thereon; and,

WHEREAS, a review committee made up of representatives of the Municipal Court, the Finance and Purchasing Department, the Public Works Department, and a private attorney, interviewed the three top applicants; and,
