Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 16925, dated June 8, 2009, the Legislature did authorize the execution of an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the City of Independence, Missouri ("City"), for animal control field services and animal control sheltering services, and for the construction of the Regional Animal Shelter on land owned by the City; and,

WHEREAS, by Resolution 18045, dated December 3, 2013, the Legislature did authorize the First Amendment to the Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the City for the furnishing of animal sheltering services at the Regional Animal Shelter; and,

WHEREAS, the City has requested that the First Amendment approved by the County be modified to specify that the City will retain ownership of the land, clarify some of the County's responsibilities, and require the establishment of an Animal Welfare Committee; and,

WHEREAS, additionally, under this revised First Amendment, the County will reimburse the City for costs the City actually incurred in planning for the operation of the facility, in an amount not to exceed $44,747.00, and for personnel severance pay costs incurred related to the transition from the existing City shelter, in an amount not to exceed $42,359.00, at an aggregate cost to the County not to exceed $87,106.00; and,
