Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 17724, dated November 7, 2011, the Legislature did authorize the award of a term and supply contract for the furnishing of inmate pay telephone services for use by the Corrections Department to Century Link, of Overland Park, KS, for a commission payable to the County; and,

WHEREAS, one of the needed services under this arrangement is for Automated Information Services (AIS) in which callers may obtain automated information regarding inmates' court dates, bond amounts, and other information; and,

WHEREAS, presently Century Link does not have the capabilities to provide this service, but will have an AIS system implemented soon; and,

WHEREAS, until that implementation occurs, the Corrections Department recommends an agreement with Telerus, Inc., of Denver, CO, the subcontractor of County's previous inmate phone contractor, Securus, to provide for these services; and,

WHEREAS, under this agreement, Century Link will be responsible for the $2,000.00 per month fee for this service until it is able to provide this service directly; and,

WHEREAS, this agreement, at no cost to the County, is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Agreement with Telerus, Inc., of Denver, CO.

Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
