WHEREAS, the Department of Corrections has a need for seven new 15-passenger vans and three new minivans, and the Prosecuting Attorney's Office, Deferred Prosecution Division has a need for one 12-passenger van; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 1030.4, Jackson County Code, 1984, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the award of a contract for the furnishing of these vehicles to Dick Smith Ford of Raytown, MO, under the terms and conditions of Johnson County, Kansas Contract No. 2011-0490, an existing government contract; and,

WHEREAS, the vehicles for use by the Department of Corrections require security modification for use as prisoner transport; and,

WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the award of a contract for van conversion to Handicap Conversions, Inc., of Kansas City (Platte County), MO, as a sole source purchase, for the reason that it is the only local provider specializing in uniweld construction of security cages; and,

WHEREAS, a transfer is necessary to place the required funds in the proper spending account; and,
