Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 6925, dated June 8, 2009, the Legislature did authorize the County Executive to execute an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the City of Independence, Missouri, (City) for the construction of a shared animal shelter facility; and,

WHEREAS, the County and the City now desire to formalize a partnership with the Metropolitan Community College (MCC) to expand its veterinarian technology educational programs at the Blue River campus in connection with the shared animal shelter; and,

WHEREAS, the County has provided funding for the new shelter and the plans for the animal shelter facility include space for classes and onsite training and MCC staff were involved in the design process; and,

WHEREAS, the County, City, and MCC intend to negotiate and execute an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement to set forth the mutual understandings and obligations of each party with regards to the cooperative efforts; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County hereby expresses its intent to enter into an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the Metropolitan Community College and the City of Independence that will establish a partnership for utilizing the new shared animal shelter for higher education opportunities.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
