Title
AN ORDINANCE appropriating $24,995.00 from the fund balance of the 2011 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund and authorizing the County Executive to execute an agreement with the Afrikan Centered Education Collegiums Campus to provide support for anti-drug and crime prevention activities and purposes, at a cost to the County not to exceed $24,995.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Drug Commission has recommended a Cooperative Agreement with the Afrikan Centered Education Collegiums Campus (ACECC) for a drug prevention arts program called "Students Against Drugs & Violence"; and,
WHEREAS, this drug and crime prevention program is a collaboration between the ACECC and the Meet me in the Middle Peace Coalition; and,
WHEREAS, the purpose of this program is to increase protective factors for high-risk children and youth to prevent, reduce, or delay the experimental and occasional use of alcohol and other drugs; and,
WHEREAS, this after-school program is in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, in order to fund this agreement, an appropriation is necessary; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends said appropriation; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made:
