Body
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kansas City is undertaking efforts to streamline the process by which vacant, tax-delinquent homes throughout the city, but particularly in its urban core, can be returned to productive use; and,

WHEREAS, a part of these efforts involves simplifying the procedures that the Jackson County Land Trust must follow when attempting to sell property to neighborhood-based organizations or abutting property owners; and,

WHEREAS, the Legislature believes the City's efforts in this regard are sound public policy and will result in significant improvements to the quality of life in the City's urban core; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature expresses its support for the efforts of the City Council and staff of the City of Kansas City to reduce blight in the City's urban core and to return vacant, tax-delinquent properties to productive use; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature encourages the County administration and legal staff to work with the City and Land Trust of Jackson County to bring the City's efforts to fruition.

Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
