Body
WHEREAS, William G. (Bill) Snyder, the son of the late William O. Snyder and Jeanette Thompson Snyder of Independence, Missouri, is in his 30th year as a County employee; and,
 
WHEREAS, Bill's family was in the grocery business and, in 1965, Bill began working at the age of 12 in the family business after school and on weekends; and,
 
WHEREAS, recognizing that his son's talents were not ideally suited for the grocery business as a career, Bill's father encouraged him to consider a career as an attorney; and,
 
WHEREAS, in 1976, Bill worked for the U.S. Senate campaign of Jerry E. Litton and gained valuable experience in Missouri and Jackson County campaigns and developed lifelong friendships with many national, state and local political leaders; and,
 
WHEREAS, in 1980, Bill managed his father's winning grassroots campaign for the Independence City Council that led to his father serving as the City's mayor pro tem, the restoration of union jobs in the City's power and light services and the reopening of the streets on the Independence Square; and,
WHEREAS, after law school, Bill accepted a position as the law clerk for Circuit Court Judge Jack E. Gant and later joined the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, where he became the Assistant Director and Chief Legal Counsel for the Family Support Division and served as President of the Missouri Child Support Enforcement Association in 1984; and,
 
WHEREAS, in 1987, Bill accepted a position as an Assistant County Counselor where he has served for 23 years, holding the positions of acting Chief Deputy County Counselor and most recently, serving as the acting County Counselor; and,
 
WHEREAS, Bill has also served the area through numerous community charities, the Independence Neighborhood Councils, and Masonic and Shrine fraternal activities and has attained numerous Masonic offices and honors in Missouri and nationally; and,
 
WHEREAS, Bill was appointed to the Grand Council of the Cryptic Masons of Missouri and is in line to become the Grand Master of the Cryptic Masons of Missouri for the 2015-2016 term of office; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes William G. Snyder for his 30 years of service to Jackson County, Missouri, and extends gratitude for his loyalty and commitment as a public servant
 
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
