A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute a twelve (12) month agreement with an annual option to extend with Standard Parking Corporation of Kansas City, MO, for the furnishing of parking spaces for use by designated County employees, in the amount of $54,720.00 for the initial twelve (12) month period with $18,240.00 to be paid in the 2010 fiscal year, as a sole source purchase.

Body
WHEREAS, the County has a need to provide parking spaces for County employees near the downtown Kansas City location of the Jackson County Courthouse; and,
WHEREAS, section 1030.1 Jackson County Code, 1984, eliminates the requirement for competitive bidding when the items to be purchased can be obtained from only one source and requires notification of and approval by the Legislature on such sole source purchases exceeding $25,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, Standard Parking Corporation of Kansas City, MO, has parking lots that are contiguous and adjacent to the County's existing employee lots B and C; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends award of a twelve (12) month contract to Standard Parking Corporation at an initial annual cost of $40 per parking space per month for a total annual cost of $54,720.00, with $18,240.00 to be paid from the 2010 budget, based upon the proximity of the lots to the current County employee parking lots and work locations; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Director of Finance and Purchasing, and that the County Executive be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the award in a form to be approved by the County Counselor; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the agreement and any subsequent extensions thereof.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
