Body
WHEREAS, no community is immune from natural hazards such as tornado, severe thunderstorm, flood, severe winter weather, drought, heat wave, earthquake, dam failure or wildfire; and,
WHEREAS, the County recognizes the importance of reducing the human suffering, property damage, interruption of public services and economic losses caused by those hazards; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Federal Hazard Mitigation Grant program, as of November 1, 2004, all communities must adopt a natural mitigation plan to be eligible for federal hazard mitigation funding following a Presidential Declaration of Emergency; and,
WHEREAS, the Regional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan is a multi-jurisdictional plan that represents a number of local governments and school districts within the Kansas City region and has been prepared in accordance with Federal Emergency Management Agency Requirements at 44 C.F.R. 201.6; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County adopts the Regional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan and authorizes the County Executive to take any necessary actions in furtherance of implementation.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
