Body
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article II, § 16.15 of the Constitutional Home Rule Charter of  Jackson County, the Legislature is responsible for setting the compensation of county employees, not under the merit system; and,
 
WHEREAS, the Legislature has fulfilled this responsibility by enacting § 285. of the County Code, which establishes salary ranges for these employees, within which the appointing authorities of the employees have the discretion to fix specific salaries, subject to the availability of budgeted funds; and,
 
WHEREAS, Article III, Section 5 of the Charter and § 222. of the Code authorize the appointment of a budget officer to be made by the County Executive; and,
 
WHEREAS, the prior salary range for this position was repealed by Ordinance #3964, dated December 10, 2007; and,
 
WHEREAS, the adoption of a revised salary range for this position within Schedule II is in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, as follows:
 
Section A.        Enacting Clause.  Schedule II to Chapter 2, Jackson County Code, 1984, is hereby repealed and one new schedule enacted in lieu thereof, to be known as Schedule II, to read as follows:
