Body
WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, MO, and Jackson County have negotiated the terms of an Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement ("Agreement") setting forth procedures for the timely disbursement of proceeds derived from economic activity taxes collected by the County that are due to the City for Tax Increment Financing (TIF) projects under chapter 99, Revised Statutes of Missouri; and,

WHEREAS, the City has entered into similar agreements with Clay County, Missouri, and Platte County, Missouri; and,

WHEREAS, the Agreement provides terms that will benefit both parties; and,

WHEREAS, the Agreement establishes a process that will reduce County staff time and expense in the calculation of amounts that are statutorily required to be paid to the City for TIF projects; and,

WHEREAS, the attached Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement sets forth the mutual understandings and obligations of the City and County with regards to the cooperative effort regarding distribution of economic activity tax proceeds ; and,

WHEREAS, this Agreement is in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of the County; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Intergovernmental Cooperative Agreement with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, for the disbursement of economic activity tax proceeds.
