Body
WHEREAS, Seth Pippin, a Lee's Summit High School senior, has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship program; and,

WHEREAS, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, founded in 1955, is a privately- financed, not-for-profit corporation that operates without government assistance, and provides National Merit Scholarship awards, worth approximately $33 million; and,

WHEREAS, National Merit Scholarships are underwritten by nearly 500 independent sponsor organizations and institutions as well as with the corporation's own funds; and,

WHEREAS, through his pursuit of academic excellence, Seth has earned the designation of National Merit Scholarship finalist, carries a GPA of 4.56 on a 4.0 scale and is ranked 2nd in his class of 430; and,

WHEREAS, Seth has been an active student at Lee's Summit High School, where he has participated in track and field, spring conditioning, Earth Club, Chess Club, Math Club, was a member of Science Olympiad, the Science Knowledge Bowl, and National Honor Society, and recently received the McKelvey Entrepreneurial Scholarship for $40,000.00; and,

WHEREAS, Seth is also an active community member, volunteering at the Kansas City Community Kitchen, the Council for Exceptional Children, and the Olathe Trailblazers; and,

WHEREAS, Seth has owned and operated several web-based businesses, and currently owns and operates two businesses, Pippin Content Network and Pippin Internet Solutions; and,

WHEREAS, Seth plans to attend the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in the fall; and,

WHEREAS, Seth's mother, Meg, joins with Seth in the celebration of this distinguished honor, and Seth's late father, Morris, was ...
