Body
WHEREAS, Second District Legislator Bishop James D. Tindall was recently selected to receive the NAACP Velma E. Woodson Outstanding Leadership Award; and,
WHEREAS, this award is presented to an individual possessing an exceptional ability to lead and organize people, whose leadership has provided a platform for advancement of future generations, and who has the ability to work with policy makers in discussing and solving problems; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall encompasses all of the outstanding leadership criteria which are celebrated through this award; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall's leadership abilities are expressed through his work on the Legislature, acting as Chairperson of the Health and Environment and Inter-Governmental Affairs Committees, and as a member of the Anti-Drug, Budget, and Justice & Law Enforcement Committees; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall also leads his religious community at Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ in Kansas City, Missouri, where he has been appointed permanent pastor and Chairman of the Board of Directors; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall was elevated to the office of Bishop by the Archbishop of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of Christ in November 1996; and,
WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall was honored with this award at the 41st Annual Life member/Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday, October 18, 2008; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Bishop James D. Tindall upon his receipt of the NAACP Velma E. Woodson Outstanding Leadership Award.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
