A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute a Cooperative Agreement with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, in connection with the construction of a multipurpose trail within the Blue River Parkway.

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, has requested permission from the County to construct a section of multipurpose trail on county-owned property within the Blue River Parkway; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City has received grant funding for construction of a paved, multipurpose trail along Indian Creek and would like to connect this trail to the Blue River Parkway, at no cost to the County; and,

 

WHEREAS, under this agreement, further extension of the trail along Blue River Parkway will be possible as additional grants are received by the City; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Acting Director of Parks and Recreation has determined that the proposed trail will have no adverse effect on County park property and recognizes the public benefit of the trail; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Cooperative Agreement  with the City of Kansas City, MO, on behalf of the County.

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
