Body
WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City, Missouri, has received a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant from the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, in the amount of $1,691,096.00, for the City's "Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program," the goals of which are to reduce crime and improve public safety; and,

WHEREAS, the City of Kansas City has requested County Anti-Drug Sales Tax matching funds in the amount of $23,971.00 to implement a portion of this program; and,

WHEREAS, thereafter, a total of $239,708.00 will be paid to the County to fund the salaries and fringe benefits of prosecuting attorney's staff, as well as other contractual costs of the Drug Court's Central Assessment Center and the Judge Mason Center; and,

WHEREAS, the attached "Cooperative Agreement for Services" provides a suitable mechanism by which to implement this understanding between the City and the County; and,

WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this proposal and recommends the expenditure of these funds; and,

WHEREAS, in order to implement this program, a transfer and appropriation are necessary; therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer and appropriation within the 2004 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund, covering the City of Kansas City Local Law Enforcement Block Grant, be and hereby are made:
