AN ORDINANCE appropriating $25,000.00 from the unappropriated surplus of the 2004 Grant Fund to cover the Sobriety Checkpoint grant received from the Missouri Department of Transportation - Office of Highway Safety, and authorizing the County Executive to execute an Agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation - Office of Highway Safety, to implement this grant program in the amount of $25,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the County has been awarded a grant in the amount of $25,000 by the Missouri Department of Transportation-Office of Highway Safety for its Sobriety Checkpoint program; and,
WHEREAS, Jackson County ranks 1st in the State of Missouri in alcohol related crashes; and,
WHEREAS, this grant will fund reimbursement of overtime used for setting up sobriety checkpoints and other alcohol related activities and allows for the purchase of one sobriety checkpoint equipment trailer; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the grant funds in the proper spending accounts; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made;
